A gang of energetic children+pooters+bugs=FUN!
Did you know that there are over 1,000,000 different types of insects in the world? Mad isn't it?
We all know a few of them, but we were eager to take a closer look at where some of them live, what they eat and what they look like. Our investigative skills were put to the test and we had fun in the process!
We used pooters for the first time to get a closer look at some of our friends who like to hide out in the school garden.
A pooter is a small clear plastic container used to collect and inspect small bugs and minibeasts. It has 2 tubes sticking out from the lid. One is green and the other is clear. Once you spot a bug, you aim the clear tube at the bug and quickly inhale through the other green tube, to suck the bug inside.
Sounds gross, doesn't it?! We thought so too, but your mouth never actually touches off any of our hairy friends. It's totally safe and HEAPS OF FUN!
Just take a look at some of the interesting variety of insects that we discovered today.
*Although some funny faces were pulled, no children OR bugs were harmed during our 'pooting' :)
