Not so 'Horrible Histories'

Over the last couple of months, our class have been tirelessly working away on individual history projects as part of their homework.

We have chosen our own topics to research and we took turns presenting them in school over the last few days.

Each and every project is truly amazing and interesting, full of cool facts and surprising information. Hours of work have been put into them, and it shows!

The standard of work and the creativity of the class, while not surprising, is to be admired and congratulated.

Well done to each and every boy and girl. You should be very proud of yourselves.

Awesome job, guys! :)

Here we are with our projects and a brief description of them.

Prepare to be 'wowed'!

For my project I studied The Stone Age because I found it cool. I made an axe for my project. (Yes, a REAL HOMEMADE AXE!!!!!!)

I did my project on Saint Padre Pio.
I did it on Padre
Pio because he is famous and my mam knows
a lot about him.

I chose the history of GAA because I love sport and I had a very nice time learning about it. It is a big part of our history and is a nice thing to learn about. (Dad's All Ireland medal!)

I did my project on the Titanic because I find it very interesting and it is nice to learn about. The Titanic sank 102 years ago.

I did my project on Grace O'Malley.
I found it interesting that Grace shaved her head and dressed up as a boy to go on a sailing trip.

I did my project on Alexander the Great because of all the strange facts and things he did, like sulking in his tent for three days when his men refused to go on because they were tired. There are also so many things about him, and his horse as well.

I did my project on Mount Vesuvius because my mum got this amazing post card from 1929 and it said 'Happy New Year 1929'. It shows Mt Vesuvius.

I did my project on The Vikings because our class went on a Vikings ship in 2nd class and I found it amazing. I learned that Vikings came from Norway Sweden and Denmark.

I have done my project on Gandhi. I wanted to do my project on him because after we had done the history lesson on him I thought he was very interesting.

I did my project  on World War II because I thought it was
really interesting and my Granddad fought for the Axis power. I knew some things about it and I learned some other amazing facts too.

I have done my project on the Egyptians. I find the Egyptians interesting because I like how they were able to build pyramids.

My project was on Mount Vesuvius in Italy.
I did my project on Mount Vesuvius
because I found fascinating facts on it.
For example,
Mount Vesuvius covered Pompeii in 20 feet of ash and rock
when it erupted down on the people.
It happened the day after the festival to Vulcan, the Roman God of fire.

I did my project on the history of chocolate.
I chose the project because I was going to do
it on world war two and I found the history of chocolate more interesting .

I did my project on World War 1.It started in 1914 and ended in 1918.
I made a super model to show the soldiers in the trenches.

I did my project on The Race To Space because I found it very interesting.

I did my project on The Normans. I chose my project  because my second name is Fitzgerald and that is a Norman surname. My favourite thing about them is the weapons they used.

I did my project on The History Of The GAA because I like running and camoige.
I found lots of information about the GAA. It was fun.I found out that Galway had not won the all Ireland in a long time.

I did my project on The Titanic because when I first heard of it I thought it sounded interesting. I learnt a lot.

I did my project on dinosaurs because i like dinosaurs and i wanted to learn more about them and i think they are very cool too!

I did my project on Coole Park because i was interested in its historical background and how it is so popular around the world. Coole Park was Robert Gregory's house.

I did my project on Winston Churchill because he is considered the greatest British person that ever lived and I thought he is very interesting to learn about.

I did my project on Germany because my Mum used to live there and I found it interesting.
I have done my project on Newcastle community and its history because I wanted to learn more about my community.
I did my project on Guy Fawkes because he sounded really interesting.

I did my project on Queen Victoria and her summer house in England because I have been there before and I found it interesting because she had nine children and seven of them shared a room.
I did my project on Titanic because I thought it was fascinating and it was a very cool boat and that there was so much to learn about it.
