Chinese New Year-The Year Of The Rooster

KUNG HEI FAT CHOI!

Celebrations for Chinese New Year began last Saturday 28th January and this year is the year of the rooster.

We have been learning about how the Chinese people celebrate this important holiday, all week.

We learnt about how families prepare for this celebration; what they eat, why red is such an important colour for them and we watched a video showing the cool 'Lion Dance' that's performed.

The dance is supposed to get rid of old spirits and bring good luck for the new year ahead.

We even found out what animal zodiac sign we were born on! Here are our Chinese zodiac frames that we made. We wrote our initials in Chinese on them and they are proudly hanging in our classroom.

"Kung Hei Fat Choy, Everyone!"
