Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh

 


This is one of the most famous paintings in the world. It was painted by Dutch painter Van Gogh in 1889.It is now housed in The Museum of Modern Art in New York. 

We observed Van Gogh’s style of painting which is known as Impressionism. This is characterized by small thin, visible brush strokes. We discussed how we could create this on our own paintings using pencils, the top of paintbrushes and skewers. We also studied the colours in this painting and needed to mix the colours we had to create lighter and darker shades.
