Engineers' Week Challenge with Laoise's mammy, Kate!

Laoise's mother, Kate, has a really exciting job. She works for a company called Intel and she came into our class during Engineering week, with a specific mission...to set us an engineering challenge.

"What was the challenge?", I hear you ask!

We had to design and build a bridge that would carry the weight of some toy cars AND the bridge had to connect tables that were 1metre apart.

She gave us engineering packs to carry out our challenge and these contained paperclips, elastics, string and various other items.
It sounds easy, but it was a tricky mission. Luckily we worked in groups and together we devised a plan.

Of course we mastered it in the end and the winning team got really cool prizes!

Thanks so much to Kate Mulhall for such a fun afternoon. She opened our eyes to the amazing world of engineering and as a result we now have some eager and able engineers of the future ready to change the world!
